Regular scheduled services to Capri, Ischia and Naples plus Positano and Amalfi
From the Marina Piccola at Sorrento Port, ferries, hydrofoils and jetboats operate services to Capri, Ischia and Naples. Other services include daily summer services to Positano, Amalfi and Salerno as well as mini cruises along the Amalfi coastline.
By far the busiest route is between Sorrento and Capri, several operators compete and in the summer months there is a boat from one operator or another about every 30-45 minutes.
There is a choice of ferry companies all competing against each other on the popular routes. Most of the websites now have English translations, or you will use Google Translate. Most allow on-line bookings.

Getting to the port area of Sorrento
The Marina Piccola is straight down, and a long way down from Piazza Tasso, for tourists the central point of Sorrento Town on top of the cliffs. It is a pleasant enough 10-minute stroll down past the tourist office to the port below, but a bit of a grind walking up.
Orange town buses run by EAV have a couple of town routes that start at the port, and climb up to the town above at about 20 minute frequencies.

There is a lift located in the city park, next to the Cloisters, that takes you down to the port of Marina Piccola as well for a small charge. There are stairs up and down next to the lift.
Ferry tickets from Sorrento
At the port there is an area where all the ferry companies have their ticket offices, all side by side in a purpose built building. All will have their routes and schedules prominently displayed.
You may prefer to just book tickets on-line and of course there are plenty of agencies up in the town that will sell you tickets as well.
The boats are very popular with visitors. During the morning the lines waiting to board are long but they all seem to cram aboard somehow.
