The main Naples ferry and cruise port is right in the centre of Naples and is a single entity with both cruise and ferry services located all together. The port is referred to as Molo Beverello.
There is a single building with all the ticket desks and a large digital display that tells you at which berth the vessel you require is docked. All berths are next to each other and you just walk a short distance to board.
The area around Molo Beverello has many hotels, the Naples waterfront hotels are numerous within 5 minutes' walk. Most of the top hotels of Naples are around here reflecting it as being Naples' most elegant and desirable district.
Mollo Beverello is well served by the comprehensive local Naples buses, full details of which are on our Naples public transport page. Frequent buses link with Central Station too, which is to the east of the city centre and too far to walk.
Central Station is the main train station for national trains as well as the private Circumvesuviana rail network serving Pompeii and Sorrento.
The Alibus Naples airport bus terminates at Mollo Beverello and takes just 30 minutes to Naples Airport stopping on the way at the main Naples train station, Central Station.
The popular open top Naples hop-on hop-off sightseeing buses also stop here and the main terminus of the two routes are a 5-minute walk away. Many of the city sights are within easy walking distance of the ferry/cruise centre including the historic centre. There is a tourist information office where you can pick-up useful maps too.
For most visitors it is the ferry services to the islands of Capri and Ischia plus the resort of Sorrento that is the main reason for using the ferry port.
There is a choice of ferry companies all competing against each other on the popular routes. Unfortunately most of the operators websites are only in Italian, the Caremar website being a notable exception. Most allow online bookings.
A typical fast hydrofoil type service will be around an hour to Capri or Ischia.
Frequencies are very good and you should not have to wait long for a service from one of the operators to and from the islands.
You can buy tickets at the port or online.

Unlike some ports, in Naples you walk straight off your ship into the centre of the city.
Those that are independently minded can sightsee at a much lower cost than the cruise line offerings, including trips to Mount Vesuvius or Pompeii as well as the city of Naples.
