Luxury Rome hotels with family rooms are not the most common room format to be found in Rome, and in the peak months when families tend to visit Rome there is a severe shortage that drives up prices.
Well worth consideration is a hotel outside the city centre itself.
Chains like Marriott and Crowne Plaza/ Holiday Inn have large properties in the suburbs, often with spacious grounds and outdoor pools - ideal for the young family.
The Crowne Plaza St Peter's has a spa and extensive leisure facilities including 25m length outdoor pool, indoor heated pool, sauna, Turkish bath, whirlpool, gym and tennis courts.
Independent luxury family hotels in Rome
If you really want to stay in the centre, an apartment on a short term let in Rome is worth exploring.
In the city, nearly all of the 4-star hotels that have family rooms are independent. Surprisingly many of the familiar global chains are not present in Rome and most that are have sites outside Rome city centre with just a flagship hotel in the Via Veneto district that don't cater for kids.
Like all the hotel sectors in Rome, the biggest choice is in the immediate vicinity of Termini Station. No bad thing really as Termini is the main transport hub in Rome both for local buses and metro, airport links and long distance trains.
