Family rooms in Rome are available in a surprising number of hotels in central Rome across the whole budget spectrum, perhaps because so there are so few modern purpose built hotels dominated by the contemporary standard hotel room oriented towards couples occupying.
Most are in independent hotels with just a handful of family rooms. Given that the demand for family rooms is concentrated on holiday periods, availability is an issue at peak times.
In Rome itself there is an absence of chain hotels in purpose built accommodation offering family room accommodation.
The exception to the rule is the Best Western Hotel Globus. This hotel is only two Metro stops from Termini; you could walk to Termini in under 10-mins.
Independent family hotels in Rome
The widest choice of family three star independent hotels is around Termini Station.
Partly because of the intense competition here, prices are relatively economic compared with other central districts.
Like all hotels in Rome, room rates are highly volatile depending on season. During the popular summer months rates, when families like to visit Rome rates can be double or triple that of the winter. At the height of the season when rates are high, the word budget really only means relative to more expensive hotels.
